2019 – 2020

the kosovar network

Assist Kosovo has established the Kosovar Network, which has gathered 15 young, active women from Civil Society, Public and Private Institutions and political representatives who are active members in their communities and advocate for human rights.

The Kosovar Network within Assist Kosovo have benefited from the trainings and workshops organized during 2019-2020 and have played an important role in their societies in empowering young women in Kosovo. During the implementation of the project, WDN director Valerie Dowling was a participant in the workshop along with Mercedes Blackwood, senior program associate.

response projects to the covid19 pandemic – Improving mental health through sport

The Youth Component Department has successfully implemented a Project during the lockdown; “Improving mental health through sport during the Covid 19 pandemic

More than 30 young teenagers participated in our activities organized in the nature of Pristina “Walk for your city” the purpose of this program was to increase the confidence of young teenagers aged 14-18 years, support them to develop individual programs on how to improve their physical, and mental health; HIIT activities (High Intensity Interval Training), socialize with each other and benefit from the lessons given by the Kosovo Police “Say No to Drugs”, Do Sport No Drugs”, “What is Radicalism” etc.

This project is supported by the Municipality of Pristina, Department of Sports

volunteers/volunteers #covid-19 social media group

Assist Kosovo, together with “Let’s Do it” Clean up Kosovo” have taken an initiative to establish a group of volunteers “Volunteers/Volunteers #Covid-19” which is a public group on social media with more than 14,000 active members.

2020 – 2021

“votoni për gratë” initiative #votonigratë

Assist Kosovo has successfully implemented a project in response to the Covid 19 pandemic, supporting young female candidates running for the Kosovo Parliamentary Elections 2021. As a reaction to the lack of media space given to young candidates, KA has supported women of new candidates from all political entities to create their public political profile.

The profiles have been published on the official Facebook page of Assist Kosovo.

This initiative was initiated by members of Assist Kosovo, who volunteered to support young candidates from all political entities, from all communities, as a contribution to achieving 50% gender participation in parliament, as required by the Equality Law Gender. Profiles of 100 women were created and published on the platform we use to promote our work. We had a significant reach on social media.

october 2021

Local Elections Campaign Initiative “votoni për gratë” #votonigratë

Assist Kosovo has successfully implemented the campaign as a continuous support for women and young candidates in the October 2021 Local Elections. This time by creating a platform on Instagram and Facebook. The initiative came as a result of a successful volunteer project during the parliamentary elections. The new candidates this time had the address to ask for help and support. Through our platforms we have managed to build a public profile of 99 young candidates in the Local Elections, supporting them with online training for public speaking.

november 2021

orange the world campaign Cooperation

In November 2021, Assist Kosovo joined the global campaign against gender-based violence. All the women we have supported asked to become part of the Orange the World campaign. Active citizens from various professional backgrounds joined the awareness campaign through quotes,
advice and messages against gender-based violence. They managed to gather online about 100 activists living in Kosovo who support the campaign and became advocates for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention ratified on September 25, 2020.

“fol Tash” Campaign Cooperation

January 2022 started with another campaign in cooperation with the only platform against extremism “Fol Tash” gathering young people living in Kosovo and diaspora raising their voice against violence of any form in response to the increase in criminal cases (referred to the Police Statistics of Kosovo) violence in schools, domestic violence, substance abuse, hate speech on the Internet, etc.
